Born free? The burden of Apartheid down the generations

Following the launch of her book, Are They Really 'Born Free'? Volks discussed her research with UCT students living with HIV, interviewed in 2006 and early 2012 exploring the multi-layered burden of experiencing HIV stigma coupled in some with intergenerational trauma and some experiences of discrimination around race, class, language and sexual orientation.

Cal Volks is an Infertility, ART and Donor Linking (individual and group) Counsellor living in Melbourne. She is the founder of ARISE - Assisted Reproduction Information, Support & Education which provides training to both the public and healthcare providers around assisted reproduction counselling. Cal is currently doing her PhD at LaTrobe University, Melbourne on experiences of donors.
